We are thrilled to announce the official opening of our new Hub in Redruth this weekend! This exciting development marks a significant milestone for George’s Voice, providing a much-needed safe space for young women across Cornwall. Funded by the generous profits from our beloved Village Kitchen cafe, the Chy in the Village Hub will initially be open evenings and weekends, with plans to gradually expand our hours to include afternoons and ultimately operate 24/7.
“Mental health can be incredibly isolating,” says Sophie Alway, founder of George’s Voice. “The Hub is a place where young women can find their tribe, connect with others who understand, and build a supportive network. It’s about reducing those feelings of loneliness and knowing you’re not alone.”
The hub will offer a relaxed and welcoming environment where young women can simply be themselves, engage in creative activities, and access support when needed.
Katie London, a young woman who has benefited from George’s Voice, shared, “I was so anxious before when I first came. Now, I’ve made amazing friends and feel so much more confident. It’s incredible to have people who truly understand what you’re going through.”
We believe the Hub will be a vital lifeline for many young women in Cornwall. Stay tuned for updates on opening hours and events!
We held our opening day on Saturday 18th January from 9am-3pm. Read the lovely ITV News article about us here or here for the brilliant BBC Spotlight piece on the BBC News website
